Athletes go through extensive training and habitually drive their bodies beyond the limit, and their strength and overall health determines their athletic performance. Professional players invest in various kinds of therapies to improve their muscle strength or to aid in the treatment and prevention of injuries. Chiropractic care provides an approach that is beneficial for athletes as it focuses not only on the spine, but it also for helps individuals reach optimum wellness by promoting a holistic approach to improve sports performance, prevent common injuries, and stimulate faster recovery.

A Study on Chiropractic Care and Sports Performance

In The Journal of Chiropractic Research and Clinical Investigation, research was conducted to determine the effects of chiropractic care on athletic performance. The players were tested on various athletic abilities such as power, agility, balance, kinesthetic perception and reaction time. The athletes who received the chiropractic care demonstrated an 18% rise in performance following 6 weeks of treatment. In comparison, those athletes who did not receive chiropractic care demonstrated only a 1% rise in their performance following 6 weeks of study. Additionally, after 12 weeks of chiropractic treatment, the players demonstrated 30% improvement in overall performance.

Important Benefits of Chiropractic Care to Athletes

Some of the health benefits gained by athletes undergoing chiropractic care include:

-Improved range of motion
-Enhanced concentration
-Increased blood circulation
-Decreased injuries
-Increased recovery rate from sports injuries
-Improved posture
-Decreased joint pain
-Improved flexibility

Most athletes consult chiropractors only after being injured, but the fact is, there are a lot of advantages that chiropractic can offer when it comes to athletic performance. Spinal adjustments can improve the movement of the joints of the body, enabling the nervous system to function at its optimal level. The nervous system sends messages between the brain and every muscle, ligament, and tendon in the body. By establishing proper communication between the brain and body, chiropractic care benefits all functions of the body, and an appropriately communicating nervous system allows an individual to produce a precise and smooth athletic performance.

Tom Brady
Quarterback – New England Patriots

“Being a chiropractic patient has really helped me immensely…lifting weights and seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I’ve been going to Chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to my training as practicing my swing.”
