What to expect

Whether this is your first time to a chiropractor or you have experienced the healing powers of chiropractic in the past, the anticipation of the initial visit can make some people nervous. In order to ease these feelings, this is what you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to a chiropractor is the most important visit you will have while under chiropractic care. It will play a crucial role in determining the cause of your problem, and it will provide a means of measuring progress and guiding care. You can expect the initial visit to take up to 1 hour.

Your first visit will begin with a brief history of your problem. In order to save about 10 minutes during the first visit, please fill out the downloadable forms on this website under the tab “what to expect.”

Following the necessary paperwork, you will have a personalized consultation with the doctor. During this consultation, the doctor will discuss your current condition, concerns, and potential treatment options. This consultation will also guide the scope of your examination.

Once the consultation has been completed, the doctor will perform an examination. This examination may include range of motion studies, spinal palpation, muscle testing, orthopedic testing, neurologic testing, vital signs, thermography studies, a postural evaluation, a physical examination, and x-rays, depending on the condition.

Following the examination, the doctor will determine if you would benefit from chiropractic care or if referral to another healthcare provider would be a better option. If it is deemed that your problem falls within the scope of chiropractic care, you will have the option of experiencing your first chiropractic treatment on the first visit.
